Greater Righteousness Required, Greater Grace Provided

Writer's picture: Michael BlitzMichael Blitz

In the Sermon on the Mount, beginning in Matthew 5, verse 20, we look this morning at Jesus command to have a greater righteousness than the Pharisees. It is easy it misunderstand this, given the issues with the Pharisees and their opposition to Jesus. However, Jesus is not diminishing the Pharisees when he says this, but setting an impossibly high standard, as he continues to discuss the Law.
